Should I use a dummy?

Dummies or pacifiers are a personal choice but there are a few things to think about, if you’re considering one for your baby.

It can potentially impact on breastfeeding. It can actually decrease your supply if your baby is sucking on the dummy rather than stimulating the milk supply at your breast. There is also potential for nipple confusion.

Also, when will you give it to your baby? All the time, apart from feed times, or only to settle for sleep? When it falls out while they’re asleep and they wake, are you happy to get up and pop it back in? Long term, how will you wean your baby off using it?
