How do I swaddle my Baby?

Swaddling is the ancient art of wrapping your baby to make them feel safe. Your baby has just come from a very secure enclosed space and this style of wrapping mimics this period of time, making the transition into the outside world easier.

Swaddling can help calm and settle your baby when they are tired or over stimulated. Studies have shown that wrapping can promote more sustained sleep and reduce the frequency of spontaneous awakenings; babies are born with a startle/moro reflex which usually wears off by about 3-4 months of age, swaddling your baby can also be a great ‘queue’ for sleep time; they have also shown that wrapping infants sleeping on their back may reduce the risk of SIDS.

We've made a helpful video to assist you in swaddling your baby.
